New Central Ducks paused our usual Friday Fly Out to focus on safety, particularly our shelter drill for severe weather. Students did an amazing job following directions, calmly filing into their shelter locations, and doing so in record time! We’re proud of our students and grateful to our staff for helping everyone know what to do in an emergency. #GoDucks🦆

We look forward to seeing families at conferences today from 4:00–7:00 PM and tomorrow from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM New Central families: Please enter through the W2 cafeteria doors. 🚌💛 School Bus Safety Week — Thursday This week we've had the pleasure of assisting in evacuation drills. Peep the previous post of the transportation team at New Central. During these drills we go over many examples and reason why the "rules" are in place. A safe rides start with safe riders! Help your driver get everyone to school and home safely: ✅ Stay seated and face forward. ✅ Keep the aisle clear. ✅ Use quiet voices. ✅ Follow your driver’s directions. A big THANK YOU to our Havana bus drivers for caring for our students every mile of the way! 🚌❤️

🚌☀️ It was beautiful Wednesday morning to practice bus safety at New Central! As part of Bus Safety Week, our students reviewed ways to stay safe on the bus and practiced evacuation drills so they know how to exit safely in an emergency. Thank you to our bus drivers and staff for helping keep our Ducks safe on every ride! 🦆

The students in Advanced Biology completed a squid dissection in class yesterday. Squids belong to a group of unique animals called cephalopods, and everyone really enjoyed observing them up close. Go Ducks!

Today, at 4:30 pm the high school cross country team will be running their final home meet of the year. This meet will be held at the Emiquon Nature Preserve and will be our Senior Night.

We were fortunate enough to have 3 great seniors this year, and we will be recognizing each of them as the day goes on.

The HHS cross country team competed in the Patriot Invite this afternoon at Detweiler Park in Peoria. Kasyn Jibben finished 1st out of 236 runners and set another school record with a PR of 17:11. Also running PRs today were Maddy Snedeker, Makayla Dainty, Bracdyn Richmond, and Locke Day. Go Ducks!

6th grade tournament at Williamsville this morning 🏀🦆Girls lost to Williamsville and Warrensburg but finished with a win against Riverton!

Havana Ducks are conference champions! Congratulations to the coaches and players.
