Lady Ducks take care of business in the first game of the regionals downing Delavan 10-0 in 5 innings. Madolyn Howerter threw 4 complete innings and Shelby Hill finished the game with one inning of work. Howerter added a home run to help her cause and Kaydi Miller and Karlie Hurst added a triple and double. The Lady Ducks host #1 seed Illini Bluffs tomorrow at 4:30.

Baseball and softball for Havana canceled today 5/18. The girls will play tomorrow same time for the first game of the regionals.

⚾️ for today vs Tremont has been rained out. There will be practice until 4:30.

8th Grade Bridging Ceremony, 1pm today at Havana Junior High. Family and friends are welcome to attend. You may park in our west lot and enter at the W4 cafeteria entrance. We will allow for 10 mins of pictures after the ceremony, then the 8th graders will head to the HS for a tour and may leave from there. Congratulations to our 8th grade students!

Congratulations to our attendance winners for showing up, working hard, and finishing the year strong! We also had another special “Teacher for the Day” take over in Mrs. Witherell’s classroom. Mr. Tegan Bryant did a fantastic job keeping the class engaged and entertained! 😄 All Ducks fly together! 🦆

Following today's Graduation Ceremony, we will have our parade of Graduates through town. This will begin at roughly 3:30 and will start in front of the High School, travel to Main Street then to Schrader where the parade will turn left (south) to Adams St, turn left (east) and will conclude at the Library. Go Ducks!!

⭐️Congratulations to Drake Skaggs for earning a place on the podium with 2nd place in the Discus at the IESA State Track Meet!⭐️. Way to represent Havana and your track team! Go Ducks!💪🦆

⭐️Ruger Hilst represented Havana well today at the IESA State Track Meet!⭐️. He competed against a tough group of 8th graders in the 800m, placed 13th, and ran a PR of 2:14.55! Way to work! 💪🦆🏃‍♂️

⭐️CONGRATULATIONS to our 7th grade boys 4x100 relay team for earning 6th place and getting on the podium at the IESA STATE TRACK MEET!⭐️ Team members are Noah Dembinski, John Shrake, Jordan Kinkead, Graham McCausland, Kaydan Dembinski(alt) and Ben Young(alt). They ran a PR as well! Way to go, boys!!!!💪🦆🏃‍♂️

A huge congratulations to our six proud members of the New Central Bluestem 20 Club! 📚🦆 These students successfully read all 20 books from the 2026–2027 Bluestem Book List — and impressively, they finished months ago! Their dedication, excitement for reading, and positive energy made this such a fun accomplishment to celebrate. This year’s Bluestem 20 Club members are: ⭐ Fourth Grade: Emma Strauman, Lincoln Bals, and Oliver Davis ⭐ Third Grade: Jinora Thomas, Bonnie Hammond, and Elijah Unruh A big thank you to New Central PTO for sponsoring the student plaques, and to Mrs. Witherell for leading this program and helping it remain such a successful and highly participated tradition at New Central year after year. Most importantly, thank you to our students for embracing reading and showing what determination and hard work can accomplish! We celebrated with a beautiful walk to Riverfront Park and a picnic lunch with the principal. The weather was perfect, and a great time was had by all. ☀️🥪 We can’t wait to see who joins the Bluestem 20 Club in the years to come!

Just a reminder about IHSA regional softball games, which Havana hosts this year. The ticket price for (5/18) Monday's preliminary game is $5.00 for ALL spectators. Per IHSA, NO passes of any kind are accepted for these games. Ticket price for the Semi-finals and Finals (Tues., Wed., & Fri.) is $8.00 for ALL spectators. Per IHSA, NO passes of any kind are accepted.

Lady Ducks earn their 4th win of the week with a victory over Illini West 7-4. Shelby Hill goes all seven innings to pick up the win and Madolyn Howerter hit two absolute bombs for home runs as the Lady Ducks overcame a 4-1 deficit. The girls begin regionals Monday at home vs Delavan at 4:30.
