🏃‍♀️HS TRACK🏃‍♀️ 🎊Congratulates🎊 Kasyn on breaking the second school record of the day! This time she breaks the indoor 1️⃣6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ record with a 5:46.72. The previous record was 5:54.75.

🏃‍♀️HS Track🏃‍♀️brought some girls to the CENTRAL ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL. We had the trek all the way to Charleston to have tough competition. Proud of how the girls performed today! They finished 2️⃣1️⃣ out of 7️⃣1️⃣ teams.

Books with breakfast, books with lunch, at New Central we read a whole bunch! The final day of Read Across America was a fun one! Lisa Friedrich and Dr. Cassy came to read to our students. Lots of students sported their Duck pride. Thanks to everyone who participated this week!

The High School PE and strength classes have enjoyed their time at the Paddlewheel! 🎳 We are so thankful for this amazingly fun opportunity!

🏃‍♀️HS Track🏃‍♀️ Kasyn Jibben breaks the indoor 3️⃣2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ record with an 11:49.45. The previous record was 14:18.15.

English IV students recently delved into the thought-provoking world of Lord of the Flies, and their latest project brought the novel’s descriptions to life. Our tech-savvy students turned into digital cartographers. They scoured the novel for vivid quotes describing the island's landscape—from the shimmering pink granite of Castle Rock to the dark, tangled undergrowth of the jungle—and used these quotes as "prompts" for AI image generation tools. It was incredible to see them connect the language of literature with the potential of technology, pushing their visual and literary comprehension in a whole new way.

Today students dressed as what they would like to be when they grow up, because reading is the ticket to get them there! We loved hearing about our students' plans for the future.
Tomorrow we wrap up Read Across America Week. Students are encouraged to wear their Duck gear to show school spirit and celebrate our school’s commitment to helping every student develop a love of reading. We can’t wait to see our halls filled with Duck pride!

It took a little overtime but what a game as the 6th grade boys avenge an earlier loss to Beardstown. Ducks win 38-31 to end their season and win the 6th grade tournament ! Way to go boys!

Read Across America Week continued with another fun-filled day at New Central. Students and staff dressed as book characters. It was so much fun to guess who everyone was dressed as and to talk about the books that feature everyone's character. We were grateful to have Sheriff Gann and Ashley Schaad come to read to students and talk about their careers. Finally, we wrapped up the day celebrating all of the places reading can take us at Family Reading Night. We loved having so many families in the building! Tomorrow, students are invited to dress as what they want to be when they grow up.

The doors are opening RIGHT NOW for our New Central Family Reading Night and we can’t wait to see you! Come join us for a cozy evening of books, smiles, and a little reading adventure together.

New Central kicked off Read Across America week by cozying up to read in pajamas on this rainy, dreary day.  

Second graders enjoyed listening to Casey McCausland read books about farming and share about his career.  More special guests will be reading to other grade levels throughout the week. 

Tomorrow, students are invited to dress like a favorite book character.  

We hope to see everyone at Family Reading Night tomorrow (Wednesday) from 5:00-6:30. 

We're kicking off a new month of attendance at New Central. We didn't quite make our February goal, but with all of the illnesses going around, we feel 🍀 lucky 🍀 to have so many students who came to school every day they could. We're crossing our fingers that there are healthier days ahead and we can beat 91% attendance in March!
