Due to cancellation of the game 1/23, the cheer clinic performance will now take place at JV halftime of the Tuesday 1/27/26 HS Boys Basketball game.
All Havana activities are canceled for Friday 1/23. This includes any games and practices scheduled.
Good evening,
Due to the predicted extreme wind chills, Havana #126 will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 23rd.
Forecasts for the weekend are not looking promising and may impact school for Monday as well. Please be prepared for a potential Delayed Start or another closure. It is hard to say what the weather will bring us. If there is also snowfall, the cold temperatures may make it difficult for snow removal.
There isn’t an easy button or a class that we can take for making a decision on whether or not to close school. Keeping the balance between ensuring the safety of our students, minimizing learning disruptions, and trying to support families that have to make last minute arrangements is one of the hardest calls to make.
Please know that every decision made is done so with your safety and the best interest of the students and staff. Stay safe, and stay warm. We hope to see everyone on Monday!

🚸 Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminder 🚸
At New Central Elementary School, the safety of our students, families, and staff is priority. We are asking that all pedestrians use the designated crosswalk during arrival and dismissal.
Using the crosswalk not only improves safety for adults and students, but it also helps us model safe habits for our children. When students see adults using crosswalks consistently, they are more likely to do so themselves.
Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and continued partnership in keeping our school community safe. 💛🦆
