JH Track had the last home meet of the season this afternoon! 7th and 8th grade boys both took 1st place as a team. This year's group of 8th graders always work hard and they've been great leaders for the younger athletes.
Special Shout out to Drake Skaggs for breaking the school Discus record again throwing 156' 11.5"(47.84m)!
Keep working hard, Ducks!🎽

🦆 ⚾️ Get an 11-5 win @ WP! McDaniel and Brooks threw well on the mound, and 2 hit days from Smith and Jones! Ducks are back in action tomorrow vs Delavan. #GODUCKS #BUYIN

🏃♂️HS Track & Field 🏃♀️had the Varsity version of the John Levingston Invite last night. The crew had 1️⃣0️⃣ PRs along with season bests in all relays we ran:
Boys 4x100, 4x200, 4x400
Girls 4x100, 4x200, 4x400
Absolutely all of the kids continue to impress the coaching staff. Sometimes a kid is on fire and stands out.
Korey Hurst was one of those kids. Korey had a PR in the 8️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ m and a season best 1️⃣6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣m. The season best 1600 was 2️⃣1️⃣ seconds faster than his previous best mile of the year. Coach Cam Lee and the 4x800 crew are showing out! This mid season mile is only 3 seconds slower than where he was peaked for the Sectional.
Miles Chapin was another standout. Miles PRed on his 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣m & 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣m times. Miles and Hunter compete well with each other. Miles passed Hunter PR in the 100 and then Hunter got his get back against Miles in the 200. Those two are in both 4x100 and 4x200 relays with Dylan Yocum and Gavin Hamlet. Those sprint relays also had season best times.
Huge shout out to Garrett Martin. That kid played a baseball game where he got two outs and then came to the meet and ran in the 4x400. That 4x400 (which included PJ, Korey, and Bracdyn) logged a season best time.
Josey McClausland ran the 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣m hurdles for the second time this year. She was able to run well enough to shave 2 seconds off her first time. She has trusted the process and is doing extremely well. I'm excited for her to retry the 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣m hurdles next week!
I don't usually talk about place winners, but I'll sneak them in down here.
Maddie Long Jump 3rd 🥉
Kasyn 1600 1st🥇
Kasyn 3200 (was faster than the previous meet record) 2nd 🥈
Josey 100m hurdles 6th
🦆 ⚾️ ends in a 2-2 tie with Brown County. Great outing on the mound for Oscar Jones! Ducks will be back in action on Monday at West Prairie. #GODUCKS #BUYIN
Congratulations to the high school choir on their amazing performance at the IHSA Organizational Contest tonight in Beardstown! They came home with a Division 1 Rating! Way to go, choir! Go Ducks!
The softball game today 4/17 has been canceled. Illini West administration did not feel comfortable sending the kids here with the potential weather threat.
The high school boys baseball game scheduled for tomorrow at Farmington Saturday, April 18 has been moved to Monday May 11th.

5th graders in Mrs. French's math class are measuring, cutting, crafting and creating for their Volume Zoo project to end the volume chapter! They have to choose a few boxes, decide on an animal to create, find the volume of each box and combine them for total volume, and then create their animals! Stay tuned for finished products!

Today we’re celebrating three of our students who absolutely crushed their life skills goals by beating their task box times! 🎉
Task boxes are structured, hands-on activities designed to help students build independence with everyday skills. Each box targets a specific skill—like sorting, matching, organizing, or following steps—and gives students a clear, repeatable way to practice. Over time, students not only improve accuracy but also increase their speed and confidence.
Watching these three stay focused, push themselves, and finish faster than ever before was amazing. More importantly, they showed perseverance, independence, and pride in their work.
We love seeing progress like this—small wins that build big life skills! 💪✨

Ethan Edwards from ThinkFirst for teens at SIU school of Medicine came to the drivers education class to educate on how car crashes are a leading cause of brain and spinal cord injures for teens. He had different tools for the kids to practice real life scenarios and goggles that show the visual effects from impairment.
Thank you for coming to our class!
