
Congrats to Tayden Friend and Reese Smith on earning Prairieland All-Conference South Division for the HS Volleyball team. Friend was a unanimous all-conference first-team selection and Smith was a second-team selection. Way to go girls! Go Ducks!

Results from yesterday's JH Big 5 Track Meet. 7th grade boys finished 2nd and 8th grade boys finished 3rd. Both the 7th and 8th grade girls finished finished 4th overall. As a team, the track team earned 19 medals overall. Notable medalists that received one or more medals were Madison Curless, Karlie Hurst, Haleah Perkins, Samara Stephens, Shelby McDaniel, Deagan Brown, Anthony Foster, Owen Smith, and Cayden Green. Deagan Brown and Cayden Green earned 4 medals each. Anthony Foster and Samara Stephens earned 3. Owen Smith earned 2. Congrats to the JH track team! Go Ducks!

This year's winners of the 6th grade Raft challenge, where students were required to design and build a foil boat to hold the most pennies before it sinks, are:
1st place-Elliot Gilreath and Tyler Graham with an astounding 716 grams
2nd place-Jalee Anderson and Laney Fields with 507 grams
3rd place- Jaemes Griffin and Simon Tincher with 501 grams.

Anyone interested in trying out for high school flags for next school year (2021-2022), there will be open gyms to learn the tryout routine starting this Sunday, 4/25, from 4:00-5:30 PM, as well as Monday from 5:30-7:00 PM and Tuesday from 5:30-7:00 PM. Open gyms will be held at the New Central gym (come to the entrance at the back of the school). Masks are required. All flag girls march with the band at parades and perform at all home football games.

Havana High School spring band/chorus concert will be held tonight at the high school gym starting at 7:00 PM. Each student should have 4 tickets for guests. No one may enter without a ticket. All those in attendance should wear a mask inside the building. Doors will open at 6:30 PM. Guest will sit on the North set of bleachers and the 4 rows of chairs on the gym floor. Go Ducks!

All students who are eligible to attend kindergarten at New Central Elementary in the fall of 2021, and their parents, are invited to "Blast Off to Kindergarten" on Tuesday evening, April 27. Two sessions will be provided; one from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and the second from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Parents will listen to a brief presentation while students are taken on a tour of classrooms and common areas. Pre-registration paperwork will be completed. Door prizes will be given! Please call Kara Cunningham at the JH (309-543-6677 ext 314) to reserve your time slot. Due to Covid restrictions, the number of participants in each session will be limited and all participants will be required to wear a face mask. No siblings, please.


Today in PE the students did our Laps for Life relays, to raise money for St. Jude. Today's relay was the bat-spin relay...let's just say our students had some trouble running in a straight line! Go Ducks!


In celebration of Earth Day...Mrs. French's Class picked up trash outside around the JH and Mrs.Brady's class went to the Chester center and picked up 2 free trees per student! Let's take care of our planet! Go Ducks!! 🌎
