New Central students enjoyed celebrating each other today at their annual Awards Day. Students who received the Principal’s Award were Eli Whiting, Isaac Arthalony, Cooper Trimpe, Aubrey Harris, KelseySue Price, Hannah Folkes, Jackson Pringle.
Mrs. Tomm & Mrs. McDaniel had great help this past week in the school garden! Their students learned weed identification (& how to pull them), trimming techniques for overgrown lilac bushes, and utilized primitive tools (aka rocks and popsicle sticks as our shovels were all packed away) to plant a variety of seeds that will serve as host plants and nectar sources for next fall! The students also learned how to identify male and female red-winged blackbirds as they had a nest in the lilac bush and liked to scare us away when we got too close.
HS softball scheduled for this afternoon at the Routt sectional is on as scheduled...game starts at 4:30 PM. $7 admission per the IHSA. Good luck to the Lady Ducks softball team!

The Lady Ducks punch their ticket to the IHSA sectional championship with a win over Brown County 10-6 this afternoon in Jacksonville. Ducks will play Illini Bluffs in the sectional title on Friday, May 27. Go Ducks!
