Students in Mrs. Tomm's 7th & 8th-grade science classes enjoyed a beautiful day at Emiquon Preserve on Tuesday to conduct a Biodiversity Blitz. They completed a blitz at Chautauqua Refuge last week. The students worked in teams to capture as many different species of insects as they could and snapped pictures of each one before releasing them. They will use the pictures to determine the biodiversity of the habitats at Emiquon as part of their Ecology unit and develop reports for the refuge/preserve directors. Many students were able to capture monarch butterflies to "tag" them with a sticker for the Monarch Watch program. Special thanks to all the teachers, aides, and parents who helped make it a great experience for the students!

FYI for all of our sports fans who sometimes livestream our events...When the Ducks play games on the road at other schools (all road events), it is up to the host school if they will broadcast the game. Some schools use the NFHS Network (a service requiring a subscription fee), others use HUDL or a different free service, and some do not broadcast events at all. We do not get a choice in what those schools decide. That is a decision made by the host school. We apologize for these inconveniences when other schools do not broadcast events. Home events played in Havana will be broadcast when they take place in the HHS gym or at the football field. They will be broadcast for free on our HUDL TV Network. We appreciate your understanding, as well as your continued support. Go Ducks!

Thank you Faye Hughes for surprising Mrs. Snowden's 3rd hour ELA class and sharing your wonderful divinity. Faye shared information about the candy making process which is becoming a lost art and was able to witness the students using imagery as a literary technique to describe their first encounter with this old-fashioned candy.
