Junior High Remote Learners: Please go to the following link for information on Remote Learning:
https://www.havana126.net/o/havana-cusd/page/hjhs-remote-learning-info

Please see the information below for Information regarding in-person learning, which begins Monday. We will be sending out guidelines and expectations for Remote learners later this evening.
Procedures for starting school on 8/24
Masks must be worn at all times on a bus or inside our buildings or when students cannot socially distance themselves.
Students need to be dropped off at school by 8am
PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR STUDENT OFF BEFORE 7:30AM, OUR DOORS WILL NOT OPEN UNTIL 7:40AM.
If your student eats breakfast at school, they need to arrive by 7:50am
Bus students should be arriving at school by 7:45am
Students will go straight to their 1st hour class when arriving (unless they are eating breakfast).
Lockers and locker rooms will not be used.
Bookbags will be allowed and are encouraged, for their laptop protection.
Make sure you self-certify your student before they get on a bus, are dropped off, or leave home if they are a walker/biker. Any student that does not self-certify, will have to be certified by JH Staff before entering the building everyday. If they are symptom free and do not have a temp above 100.3 F, then they should have the Happiness Advantage bracelet on to prove they have been checked.
If a student shows symptoms during the school day, they will be sent to the quarantine room, and we will notify the parent/guardian to come pick up their child. (Please see our Flow chart for “returning to school” that is also attached to this email).
At the end of the day, bus students will be dismissed one bus at a time. After the buses have left, then town students/picked up students will be dismissed.

Reminders: we are only allowing students into the building tonight for 5th Grade orientation. You can drop your student off at our West gym doors and pick them up at the same location. Masks will need to worn at all times while in the building.
Parents: we can practice the certification process tonight, for in-person learners...if they have their Happiness Advantage bracelet on, that means you have certified they have a good temp (less than 100.4 degrees, but if it is close to that number tonight, please keep your child at home and let us know you cannot make it) and do not have any of the listed symptoms for COVID. If they do not have a bracelet on, we will check temps and ask questions, before they can enter.
Remote learners can pick up laptops anytime today before 4pm or tomorrow from 7am-3pm at the Jh Office.
Thanks!

A few Reminders for JH students and parents: Remote learners can pick up their Chromebooks anytime between 8am-3pm at the JH Office the rest of the week.
5th grade Orientation is tomorrow evening (Thursday 8/20): 4:30-5pm Mrs. French's class. 5-5:30pm Miss Ley's class. 5:30-6pm Mrs. Heye's class. We are only allowing students to attend orientation (to keep our numbers below 50 per IDPH), so parents can drop their students off at our West Gym doors and pick up at the same location.

If I test positive or am ill with symptoms, when can I return to school or work? This flow charts was created after consulting with the Mason Co. Health Department.

JH Parents: Thank you to all who came yesterday and registered, it went very smoothly due to everyone's patience and cooperation! If you have not Registered your child for school, you can still do that today from 7:30-2:30 at the JH, or next week. Also, for those who have Registered online, or have not registered yet, we still have some paperwork to fill out, and a bag of essentials to pick up: symptom checklist, bracelet and a complimentary mask, which you can do here at the JH office. This needs to be done before 8/14. All visitors to the school will be required to wear a mask while inside. Thanks!

REMINDER: JH In-Person Registration is tomorrow (8/5) at HJH. Times are 9am-1pm, 2:30pm-6pm. We are limiting to 1 parent per family and all people who enter the building MUST BE WEARING A MASK. Parents can park in our WEST parking lot and enter at the Cafeteria/GYM doors. Paperwork will be filled out in the cafeteria, then we will let 1 family into the office at a time to finish Registration/pay fees. If you have not filled out our District Survey as to whether you would be in-person or remote learning, please email Mr. Brady with that answer: nbrady@havana126.net

Attention HJH Parents:
If you have not set up an account with our student management system, Alma, please do so. If you have provided the school with your email then you will receive an email inviting you to set an account up. If you do not see the email, please check your Spam folder. If you already have an account, then ignore the Alma invite email. If a parent/guardian has forgotten their Alma password, then send out an email request to myself and we will reset your password.
If you could online register your student for school online this would help us tremendously. You will need an account with Alma first. If you have an account follow the instructions on the Junior High school website under the Live Feed section for registration. If you are a returning student to Havana School District then fill out the form for returning student. If you have moved and are new to Havana School system, then fill out the New Student form.
In regards to in-person Registration for the Junior High – we are having registration on Wednesday, August 5th from 9:00am – 1:00pm, 2:30 – 6:00pm. Only one parent will be allowed to accompany the student. We will only allow 45 people in the building at a time. We ask that you park in the West parking lot. Someone will be at the West doors controlling the number of people in the cafeteria. The hallways will have tape on the floor to mark social distancing. All will be required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth in order to enter. Registration forms will be filled out in the office.
An email will go out to all on how to powerwash your chromebooks. Your chromebooks will be taken off our network sometime Tuesday and afterwards you should be able to powerwash your machines and set them up as your own.
Mr. Plater has our district wide policies written for having school this year. He is waiting to see what the changes will be this week before he sends out our district guidance. We have the specific procedures written for the Junior High and we are waiting on these last minute changes we are expecting from our state leadership. We want you to know we will do everything we can to make this a safe school year and that we will try to provide as many experiences for our students’ this year as we are allowed to provide.
There will be two educational options given in person instruction or remote learning. With in-person instructions students will have school on the early dismissal schedule every day. With remote learning, students will need to log into their teacher’s video stream during their class period to view instruction. They will be able to email questions they have. The same classroom work with the same due dates will be required. Everyone will receive typical grading for their classes this year.

JH Parents: Online Registration for the 2020-21 school year is now available in Alma. We encourage all families to take advantage of the online option of registration going forward. As always with our website, make sure you are on the correct page, when searching for school info by going to the "schools" option on the top of the page and click Havana Junior High, then your menu will have our options. The following link will take you to the document you need: https://5il.co/hub0
