As we begin the e-Learning planning for 2027-2028 there will be information such as this FAQ sent out. When the plan is complete, everyone will receive a parent handbook with detailed information.
What is an e-Learning Day?
An e-Learning day is a school day when students complete their learning from home instead of attending school in person. Teachers provide lessons, assignments, and support electronically so students can continue learning even when school buildings are closed.
When will District #126 use an e-Learning Day?
The district may use an e-Learning day when school is closed due to inclement weather. If the superintendent announces that schools are closed, a determination will be made if the district is utilizing an e-Learning day or an emergency day. If an emergency day is used, no e-Learning will be implemented, and the day will be made up at the end of the school year. If an e-Learning day is used, a continuation of learning is expected, and the day will not be added to the end of the school year.
How will students and parents be notified if an e-Learning day will be used?
If severe weather would prevent our schools from opening, we will announce an e-Learning day the same way we have informed you in the past of weather related school closings. The announcement will be made by 6 am, sent to local media outlets, posted on Havana CUSD #126 Facebook page and www.havana126.net We will also make a phone call to alert you of the information. When there is a potential for an e-Learning day to be used, students who need to take chromebooks home will be allowed to check them out the day before.
Is e-Learning considered an attendance day?
Yes. Students will be expected to be present and check in for the day. If your child is going to be absent then you would follow the school’s regular attendance procedures by contacting the school and letting them know your child is absent.
Do e-Learning days have to be made up at the end of the school year?
The state has determined that e-Learning days do not extend the school year, so no emergency days will be used at the end of the year due to e-Learning days.
Will my student(s) know what to do for e-Learning?
Havana CUSD #126 will provide staff and students with adequate training for e-Learning days’ participation. During class time, all students will have a tutorial session with their teachers.
Is e-Learning the same as Remote learning that was used during the pandemic?
An e-Learning day is a type of remote learning day where students complete their schoolwork from home using electronic resources. E-Learning may include recorded lessons or live online classes, but students will not be live with a teacher for the entire school day.
